These are the things that are not okay:
--If you're in a relationship, be in that relationship. Don't you dare tell me you have feelings for me, for your best friend, or for some random hot girl you met drunk at a frat party. I don't give a shit. You're in a relationship. Treat whoever you're dating with a little respect, and, if you really need to get on this person, dump your boyfriend/girlfriend, and ask them out. Don't tell the person you're dumping that, though. Make something up about how you're an ass who doesn't deserve them. Because you know what? You'd be right.
--I don't care how drunk you are, making a pass at your friends who you're not really interested in? Never okay. If you can't keep it in your pants when you're drunk, don't get drunk.
--Going off that: if you're someone who will tell a girl that you want to "rape her in every room of seymour," here's an idea: stay sober, get some fucking counseling, and take your head out of your ass.
--If a girl says no once, that's enough. You keep trying...I don't care how well I know you, I don't care how good of a person I think you are, we're done. And trust me, I'm pretty good at being done with people.
--When someone loves you, you need to treat that person with respect for the rest of your life. Things ended badly? Once again, it's probably because you're an ass who never deserved them in the first place.
--Bad breakup? Here are acceptable responses: hitting golf balls while picturing the other person; eating lots of unhealthy food; hooking up with someone far better looking than them. Here's unacceptable responses (and yes, I'm guilty of some of these): attempting any sort of physical harm to yourself; burning things (other than letters from the ex); making out with one of their close friends; calling them a whore.
--Going off that last bit: In any relationship, you'll discover the little sensitivities we all have. Yes, there are buttons you can push to set them off, to make them cry. So you're mad, and they said something hurtful. Proper response? Here's a hint. It doesn't involve those buttons. It involves saying, "I'm sorry that's how you feel" and leaving the situation.
--That being said, you can't say "I'm sorry that's how you feel" in every situation. It's a weak way to keep someone out. The worst is, some people are so skilled at it, you don't realize they're doing it until you're six months out of the relationship and bored at midnight.
--This goes back to number one, but never EVER try to kiss a girl when you're in a relationship. Either she'll reject you and feel incredibly uncomfortable every time she sees your girlfriend (which will most likely lead to the end of your friendship with her, and her friendship with the girlfriend), or you'll both end up doing something you'll regret.
--If a girl weighs an unhealthy amount when you start dating, don't tell her when you end the relationship (and she finally doesn't have a dangerously low bmi) that you "just don't find her attractive anymore."
--Like I said, there are buttons you'll discover, to push. Don't push any that could trigger a hospital visit. It shows a complete disrespect for the relationship, the girl, and yourself.
--If you want to cuddle a lot, that's great. But if you don't want to kiss the girl, you have no right to keep telling her you're in love with her. You're not. And that's not something she should have to figure out at midnight six months later.
--It's not acceptable to hit on someone three days after they get out of a 20 month relationship.
--It's not acceptable to imply that physical violence is how you'd deal with "that bitch."
--Most of the guys I know are wonderful. And yet, I've seen almost all of them at one point or another treat a woman (usually one of my close friends) like shit. Do women treat you like shit? Sure. But this list, it should not come as a surprise to the guys. These should be obvious things.
I don't quite know where this anger was coming from. Well, yes I do. I'm looking back on my relationships. All of these have happened to me. ALL of them. That's ridiculous. And I consider myself lucky in relationships because I've only dealt with one really toxic relationship.

Our state convention, each year, for me boils down to two things: Liz Olson and Certamen. Liz and I both arrived at convention a day early, so we went swimming (Marquette boys stared at us in a rather obvious fashion), walked to a grocery store (at 11:30), and generally slept together. She's a high-quality broad.
Certamen-- we knew who would be on the Latin 4 team from convention last year: it would be me, Carolyn Briggs, Claire Naughton, and Erin Bennett. We started practicing last year, like freaks, but we had to win. I've been on the team the last three years- Erin the last 4-- and we'd never won state. We'd always been in the finals-- and lost.
So we got to convention and we felt pretty good. Until the Team Captains' meeting. There was a kid, Tim (a Latin V, at least), who is homeschooled, but wanted to play Certamen. Immediately Greenwald jumped up and claimed him for Marquette. Pat Cassidy stuck around with me, to try to dissuade Greenwald from claiming someone and thereby bumping someone from his team. FINALLY Mags realized that two kids from Rufus King had been sent home (because they went to dinner on State Street. Yeah. I know.), so Tim went onto their team.
The first round: We were playing Edgewood and Marquette. I was a little worried about Marquette- we had money riding on this, after all- but we won. 135-35-15. Best feeling ever. I called Ben (Ben Moser, my boyfriend of 19 months), and told him the score. "Who do you think got which scores?" I asked him, and he congratulated me for getting 35. "No, sweetie, we got 135," I replied. That felt even better; they won state last year, but it was kinda guaranteed-- best history in the state, Clausen...you'll win.
The second round: I don't remember who we were playing; I do remember that we got 175. That felt great. I went in to ask Mags how Rufus King was doing-- she said that we were ahead by 5.
The third round was against the two Brookfield Schools-- AKA easy peasy. We got 200, and Liz answered her first Certamen question ever. We went into the finals in first by 15; still, the fact that Tim was scoring so highly by himself was terrifying.
Finals rolled around, and it was a blur. We were down by 5 to Brookfield Academy going into the last question. |

So it has recently been brought to my attention that I will be HOME this weekend.....
And I have not made plans.
Which means.
Saturday- anyone want to go to Westlake/Pacific Place/Pike Place with me? (Becca/Amanda, I am staring directly at you two. And others who are standing with you.) (I think I want to sleep over at Callie's, if she'll have me...or I can spend all day Sunday with her. Whichever. Someone make a proposition)
Sunday- either I go to church in the morning to hunt down Katie (but she doesn't always go Sunday mornings) OR you all make a better suggestion. AKA tell me you want to go bowling or to the aquarium OMG can we go to the aquarium? and the science center? and ride the trolley?
I feel bossy and like "you should love me because I'm CAROLYN and coming home!" but you know? I'm okay with that feeling.
Monday- Luce, we got this on lock.
Tuesday- probably want to come to Garfield. Can I shadow for a day? is that allowed? Because I think that would be yummy.
Wednesday-Friday are with my family. So yucky. But I love my family. so that's good.

Last few days:
Thursday: Threw Fodie a surprise baby shower, then Lilliy and Leah and I hung out until nearly 11, destructing t-shirts, talking, and watching Superstar. Oh, and then Lilliy cut my hair. Bah. It's...different.
Friday: ![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) haikusamurai's birthday. Happy birthday! Today Laura and I went to Six Flags all day. Fun rides, fun hanging out with my incredibly cool big sister times. Came back and I was too tired to hang out with people. So I went to bed.
Saturday: Got up at ten, and lazed around all day. At 4:30, Cesca and I went sheet shopping for her dorm room. We bought more than just sheets, of course. Bed, Bath, and Beyond does that to us. Then, around 7:30 I hung out with Eli. That was fun, except my shoe broke. again.
Sunday Got up at 1. I'm supposed to hang out with Anna. Outside my door was a note saying that a Ben had called. I know too many Bens. So, I'm getting ready to go on a random-Ben-calling spree.
That's about it, really. Yeah. Boring land. |

All the photos have been cut and I'm working on my first layout. In case you don't know, I'm pulling together an entire scrapbook almost by myself in one week.
Last time I did this, it was 10 pages and it took me 40+ hours. Yeps. I'm spending almost all this weekend on this. Dan, I will call you shortly to come over; I need to shower and go to the Scrapbook Superstore first.
